Associate Dean - School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences
POSITION DETAILS

The School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences prepares students for careers in healthcare, life sciences, computer, and environmental sciences. Faculty within the school?s nine departments (Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Computer and Information Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Health and Nutrition Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology) are highly regarded in their fields.
The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the School and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Oversee the School?s Academic Assessment, Student Affairs, Faculty Mentoring and Marketing Activities
Assist the Dean in execution of the school, college and university strategic plans
Drive and implement school-wide initiatives aimed at improving academic programs and student outcomes
Monitor and ensure compliance with accreditation standards to maintain program excellence
Establish a sense of community and trust with faculty, staff, students and administrators
Work closely with the school?s academic departments and research centers to further develop academic policies and best practices
Represent the School at campus-wide events and foster strong campus relations
Provide guidance and support to new faculty members, fostering their professional development and integration into the school
Address and resolve concerns from both faculty Chairs and students to maintain a positive academic environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
Preferred
Ph.D. in a field that merits appointment to one of the school?s departments at the rank of full Professor
Demonstrated academic leadership as Department Chair, Associate Dean (or equivalent), Center or Institute Director
Experience in program development, management, and evaluation
Experience in student and faculty, advisement, and retention
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Experience in supervision within academic and unionized setting
Knowledge of University structures and protocols
Knowledge of CUNY

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$160,000 - $195,000; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
