About the Role
The nonprofit is seeking nominations for individuals to serve as volunteer directors for a period of one year, with service beginning no later than August 2025. We are currently recruiting for three Board positions. Organization was incorporated 2019 as a nonprofit in the District of Columbia, however, Board members are recruited from across the United States. This is an exciting time to join an organization with great potential to guide US domestic conversation and policymaking in sustainable fashion. Candidates can expect opportunities to connect with others in the sustainable fashion industry and related fields, and to be in an active role helping to set the organization up for long-term success. Organization is currently producing a report on sustainable fashion that will frame important standard definitions for the industry in the United States, and allow for a common language for the pursuit of important policies and regulations. Organization is entering an important period of growth and potential to guide the sustainable fashion industry. The Board’s primary responsibility over the next two years is to build the organization’s fundraising capacity and to lay the groundwork for a sustainable organization. Board members are expected, at a minimum, to: * provide an estimated four (4) hours of service per month in support * attend a minimum of 75% of Board meetings throughout the year * active participation in a Board-wide effort for fundraising success A variety of skills and experience help us build a strong and diverse board of directors. The following skills and experience are most needed at this time, • Fundraising and strategic planning experience • Grant writing and grant acquisition knowledge • Knowledgeable about sustainable fashion and connected in the U.S. in this area • Strong relational skills and potential connections to high-net-worth individuals with an interest in Organization's areas of focus • Academic or research background in sustainability • Knowledge of nonprofit financial management
