POSITION TITLE: Fiber Optic Test Specialist
CLASSIFICATION: Non- Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ADB is seeking a Fiber Optic Test Specialist to provide technical support for various operational teams within our National Services group including splicing, data center, das, isp and WIFI. This position will perform critical data gathering, testing and analytical support ensuring various fiber optic installs meet the required customer loss specifications and requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fiber optic operations, data driven with expert analytical skills, a strong work ethic, and ALL IN attitude to achieve results.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides support to various business gathering test result from field tech’s to ensure the installs meet the required customer loss specifications.
  • Collect, clean and validate test data provided by various operation teams, including splice machines (OTDRs, fusion splicers), field reports, and database systems.
  • Proficient analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, issues and trends in cable quality, loss measurements, project status and technician performance and proactively identify issues.
  • Utilizes trend results to proactively recommend process, standardization and training needs to improve overall performance.
  • Proven experience creating and maintaining dashboards and data reports to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) related to test, performance and quality results
  • Strong professionalism and customer centricity; prepare test packages, assist with As-Built drawings, and/or update splice matrices to deliver quality customer test packages, which may require real-time reviews
  • Proactively completes training and development to stay current on fiber optic industry standards
  • Possess a high level of interdependence within the operations team ensuring operational efficiency and accountability within the testing and analytics workflow
  • Safety is the expectation; complete buy-in to the safety culture and expectations by leading by example and actively participating in the pre-task, good catch and safety assessment standards within the organization
  • Performs other position duties upon request

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Will be required to perform the essential functions of the position on various fiber optic job sites at least 25-50% of the time within a safety sensitive environment
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, etc.
  • May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels while onsite
  • This is a safety sensitive position; when working on site, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel toed boots.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • 1-5+ years of fiber optic technical experience performing data validation, testing and analytics functions required
  • RCDD certification strongly preferred
  • Valid driver license with a clean driving record required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
