TSS is partnering with a nonprofit foundation located in NYC, NY, to hire a direct hire, full-time, Foundation Grants Manager. This role has a hybrid work schedule, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. Role slated to start in August.

The Foundation Grants Manager, reporting to a senior team member, plays a central role in overseeing the full cycle of grant activity—from initial review to final reporting. This position works closely with program and legal staff to ensure proper due diligence, compliance, and alignment with internal processes. Responsibilities include preparing materials for leadership-level review and supporting approvals on a rolling basis. The role also involves cross-departmental coordination to strengthen grant operations and implement process improvements. Success requires strong communication and project management skills, high attention to detail, and a thoughtful approach to equity in grantmaking practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee key aspects of the grant process from start to finish, including reviewing proposals, agreements, payments, and modifications, while ensuring they meet internal standards and external requirements.
• Coordinate closely with legal and program teams to resolve any issues that arise during the life of a grant and escalate as needed.
• Act as a primary resource for program staff on internal grant procedures and protocols.
• Prepare materials for internal approvals and decision-making, including supporting documentation and summaries.
• Monitor post-award activity such as reports, amendments, and payments to ensure timely compliance and proper close-out.
• Contribute to maintaining and updating internal procedures, training content, and documentation to support efficient and equitable grantmaking.
• Assist with data gathering and reporting to support internal learning, board communications, and regulatory filings.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives and provide backup support within the team during peak times or as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years of experience in Foundation Grants Management required.
• Possess the experience and ability to review, process, and approve 15-25 grants per month.
• An advanced degree in a humanities discipline, social science, law, or other related field is preferred.
• Be well-versed in compliance and can spot issues (knowledge of IRS rules and regulations).
• Extremely meticulous and detail-oriented, with great follow-up skills.
• Excellent communicator with strong relationship-building and writing skills.
• Skilled at keeping projects, schedules, and admin tasks organized and on track.
• Comfortable drafting and reviewing detailed materials, such as proposals or agreements.
• Proven ability to move projects forward and support policy-related work.
• Confident in reviewing budgets and financial documents to inform decision-making.
• Familiar with digital systems and tools, with the ability to pick up new platforms quickly.
• Proactive team player who anticipates needs, takes initiative, and solves problems thoughtfully.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The salary range is $140,000-$160,000yr DOE. 100% employer-paid health insurance including dental and vision (also covering domestic partners), from day one, 20 PTO days, 11 holidays, plus a paid week in August and the last week of the year. Retirement savings plan, with a 20% employer contribution.
