This position is part of the Agency Support Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia. Responsibilities Analyze and review inventory database system and prepare necessary adjustments to general materials, passport, and smart card material products balances, related paper trails, and on hand inventory quantities reports. Review and evaluate daily and monthly inventory reports to determine accuracy of load tickets, move orders, transfers and other documents. Answer inquiries regarding general materials, passports, smart card materials products availability in the inventory and inventory balances through meetings. Prepare and submit weekly analysis of system deficiencies for appropriate action and corrections. Review, coordinate, and maintain the statuses of all outstanding back orders. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the Inventory Management Specialist, PG - 2010 - 7/9 , you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Qualifications for PG-07: PG-7 Specialized Experience: You must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-05 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular specialized experience, education or training to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes: (1) assist in the analysis of various reports pertaining to inventory management; (2) enter data and process documents into an inventory management system; and (3) research and analyze information to resolve questions and issues regarding inventory discrepancies. OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement with 3.0 GPA that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond a bachelor's degree may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-07 level. NOTE: If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify, a copy of your transcript is required. Applicants must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Qualifications for PG-09: PG-9 Specialized Experience: You must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-07 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular specialized experience, education or training to perform successfully the duties of the position or typically in or related to the work of this position: (1) analyze inventory management reports; (2) utilize automated inventory management systems to maintain current inventory data; and (3) research and analyze information to resolve questions and issues regarding inventory discrepancies. OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. of J.D., if related that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education the first year (18 semester hours) may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-09 level. NOTE: If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify, a copy of your transcript is required. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (06/27/2025) to be considered. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. Background Investigation: For a Suitability: To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a background investigation for Suitability. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background check for Suitability. This review could include fingerprints and credit checks, as well as a full field FBI background investigation and tax and bar checks for attorney applicants. The background investigation covers a period of seven to ten years depending on the nature of the position; this process may take 6 weeks or longer. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer, if the candidate is unable to pass the background investigation. The selectee will work Shift 1 (7:30am - 4:00pm).
