POSITION DUTIES Reporting to the Director, Office of School Improvement and Supports, the Operations Coordinator and Equitable Services Ombudsman provides operational support in the management of programs that support Federal Title I, II, III, and IV programs, administrative support to the Office of School Improvement and Supports, and coordinates compliance with federal guidelines and requirements for equitable services to private school children. Responsibilities include: Provides program management support from conception to execution, including detailed project planning, project implementation, and evaluation. Analyzes requests for information and determines which process or action is necessary and prepares appropriate correspondence. Acquires and allocates resources, including financial resources and backing. Serves as liaison to the Office of Human Resources to coordinate staffing and new employee onboarding processes. Coordinates all programmatic, procurement, and human resources documentation to maintain flow of information to respective areas. Serves as a liaison to the Office of Procurement and Contract Management to identify and coordinate vendors for purchases. Co-leads the Superintendent’s Non-public School Workgroup. Provides technical assistance regarding equitable services requirements for State Education Agencies (SEAs), Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and private officials. Monitors school systems’ programs annually for equitable services to private school students. Performs on-site visits to monitor equitable services and provides feedback to staff. Collects and maintains records and documentation that outline LEAs compliance with Federal statutes. Provides administrative support for the Office staff including, but not limited to, answering phone calls, responding to emails, managing staff calendars, and distributing mail. Coordinates and completes assigned projects. Assists in the preparation and coordination of meetings and events. Coordinates and monitors office supplies and ensures required supplies are procured and available. Maintains the Office webpage with accurate information. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in applying and interpreting departmental policies, laws, rules, regulations and procedures. Experience providing coordination and program support to projects and initiatives. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
