Job Summary:The Housing Safety Officer will assist in providing a safe living-learning environment for the students residing in all residence hall facilities.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Good written and verbal communication skills
Capable of following complex instructions
Knowledge of security operations and procedures
Prior security experience would be beneficial
Perform security checks of residential facilities and identify potential safety hazards
Enforce Housing policies
Support their Residential Life staff during the assigned shift when requested or special needs arise
Patrol surrounding parking areas to help ensure the safety of students, staff and guests going to and from their vehicles
Secure residents doors and provide lock-out assistance
Conduct preliminary investigation in collaboration with the Alcorn State Police Department
Request proper identification on everyone entering our Resident Hall facilities
Make reports to Residential Life management staff on security violations
Report all suspicious activity to the Residential Life management staff
Provide written reports when required
Must have a have at least a high school diploma or GED (some college hours preferred)
Must have basic computer skills
Good communication skills
Must have the ability to think critically and problem solve
